About the Item
Tibor Duray was born in Budapest in January 1912. He was a hungarian painter best known for his works created in the first half of the 20th century. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest and continued his education at the prestigious Collegium Hungaricum in Rome. Duray was particularly influenced by Hungarian painting and was part of the artists' colony in Szolnok, a hub of the Hungarian art scene. He was known for his watercolor paintings and drawings, often depicting everyday scenes and portraits, but always imbuing his works with a poetic and sometimes symbolic dimension. During his study trips, including those to Transylvania and Paris, he deepened his artistic understanding and expanded his stylistic range. Between 1949 and 1952, he taught at the Academy of Applied Arts in Budapest.
