About the Item
"48 Flowers" is an original colored pencil drawing on paper by Tom Shelton. The artist signed the piece lower right. The artist says:
“The state flower of each of the 48 contiguous states is shown, and located where its state is geographically, where a US map superimposed.”

Tom Shelton graduated with a B.S. in Botany from the University of Cincinnati in 1964 and spent three semesters at the University of Michigan majoring in Forestry from 1964-1965. In 1972 Shelton completed the graduate art program at the Eastern Michigan University in which he received a M.F.A. in painting. Shelton’s artworks are included in the collection of the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C., The Chase Manhattan Bank, New York, The Allen Museum of Art at Oberlin College in Ohio and the International Headquarters of Fiserv in Milwaukee.
