"Peep Show" Peter Norton Family Christmas Project 2001 by Anna Gaskell
Paper construction of layers of printed photographs which unfold to create a fantasy peep-hole scene. Using photographs from the Netherworld Well at the Villa Regaleira in Sintra, Portugal, Gaskell creates spiraling layers of a well in which three figures can be seen watching an nude figure swimming at the bottom of the well. As stated on the card included with the package, the well design is based on Dante's Inferno.
Folded size: 6" H x 7.5" W
Green cases unfolds to 16.5."

"Part of the Peter Norton Family Christmas Project " Untitled (Peep Show) opens to reveal a scene inside the bellows of a deep mossy well inhabited by siren-like figures gesturing toward a floating body that appears to be beyond their grasp. When the piece is flipped over, a hole in the back reveals the floating body. The photographs for this project were taken by Gaskell at the Netherworld Well on the grounds of Villa Regaleira in Sintra, Portugal, built in the late 19th century. The design of the well and the surrounding gardens are based on Dante's Inferno."."
Accordion format, with a "peep hole" to the scene of a deep well and floating body. Top and bottom stiff covers connected by accordion-pleated paper; peep show is stretched open by moving upper cover out of the view
