About the Item
"I come from a generation that believed the Western world was moving towards an open awareness of diversity and acceptance of others.
And? Here we are with populists who do not care about the established laws, who break down what generations have fought for.
I made a golden planet surrounded by multicolored fragments, without hiding places.
Let us hope that beautiful energies will still happen for humanity to come..."
"Sans Dessus Dessous" transcends the simple composition to become a cartography of fears and hopes in the face of the state of the world.
The composition is dominated by a large central disc in gold leaf, which represents the Ideal or planet Earth. Around this precious nucleus a circular and dynamic chaos is organized.
The work expresses the title through a visual burst: multiple multicolored and textured fragments, gestural touches of black, and areas of raw material seem to be projected or floating, creating an impression of disorder and non-hierarchy.
This painting is a response to disappointment with the rise of populism and the shattering of established laws and values.
The Broken Ideal: Gold represents the aspiration of one generation to open consciousness and acceptance of the other.
The Upheaval: The aggressive, disordered fragments symbolize the forces that shattered this ideal, leaving the composition without clear landmarks.
Hope: Despite this chaos, the artist incorporates many bright and luminous colors. These multicolored shards embody diversity and hope that a "beautiful energy" can emerge for humanity to come, even in the midst of the current mess.
"Sans Dessus Dessous" is therefore a work that captures the moment when the order is broken, but where the raw vitality and diversity of the fragments carry the promise of a future, even if uncertain.

Emmanuelle Vroelant
Born in 1952, Emmanuelle Vroelant has been living and working in Roscoff, Brittany since 2006. Despite a real attraction for artistic creation, her parents encouraged her to study. After graduating in psychology, she leaves to discover the world and it is far from the family weight that she gives life to her first child. She moved to Vanuatu where she met artist Juan Roderta and journalist Alphonso Colondro. These two men allow a real questioning of the artist who discovers the need to paint. On her return to Paris, she opened her first studio in 1981 and ended up exhibiting in 1985, 86, 88 and 89 at the Grand Palais Autumn Show, allowing her to start an international career. After two years of illness, Emmanuelle lost her inspiration and opened a psychoanalyst practice in Paris, where she practised art therapy. In 2006, she left her Parisian life to settle in Brittany, which allowed her to regain a creative energy. At the request of collector Michel Chamming’s, Emmanuelle successfully exhibited in Paris in 2009. During the inauguration of a New York gallery, she meets Jean-Claude Reumont who offers her to represent her for China. Today, Emmanuelle Vroelant’s works are present in the United States, China and France.
