About the Item

Glowing warmth like candle light in this organic, clean, minimal and meditative sculptural wall relief that is ceramic on painted wood panel. 30 x 30 x 3 inches. A beautiful and tactile work of art from Pop Art pioneer Jane B. Grimm, whose artistic career began in the 1960’s, when her free-form sculptural jewelry exploded onto the fashion scene in NYC. Her designs spoke to a new generation well into the 1970's, when they were regularly featured in, and graced the covers of, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue magazines. In the 1980's, Grimm shifted her focus to clay, while she earned her MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts, from which she graduated with high distinction. Grimm's contemporary ceramic sculptures, created entirely by hand with a low-fire method, have premiered in galleries around the world and are included in prestigious private and museum collections. Unlike many works of art, this work can take full light. The ceramic is glazed and low fired. The wooden backing is hand painted white.
