José María de Aurora is a painter whose practice centers on the importance of matter and the physical act of painting, deeply influenced by the purity of line and the sensation of movement. His work unfolds as a refined exploration of volume and balance, giving rise to serene compositions that evoke a quiet form of visual poetry.
From an early age, José María developed a profound connection with artistic creation, experimenting across disciplines such as painting, sculpture, engraving, and dressmaking. A decisive moment in his trajectory came with the presentation of his first painting at the Fundación Tàpies, where he was awarded in a regional competition. He later expanded his formal training at the School of Arts and Fashion Techniques at Ramón Llull University.
Alongside his role as founder and creative director of the renowned Spanish couture house Ze García, José María de Aurora cultivates a parallel and deeply personal pictorial practice. Working from his studio in Aiguablava, on the Costa Brava, he dedicates himself to the creation of works that reflect an intimate dialogue between materiality, structure, and restraint. His paintings propose a space for contemplation, where architectural precision, minimalist sensibility, and poetic depth coexist in quiet tension.
