About the Item

Frog/goddess of transformation is flanked by a single bean believed to carry the souls of ancestors to connect with the past and ensure lineage. In this five-piece mixed-media series on wood, Artifacts of Various Realities invites not just a change of story but of story format. This mixed media series plays with the depiction of images fashioned by small found objects. They create connections as in an archeological dig that expands on familiar narratives only beyond cultural and historical bias. We are invited to allow these artifacts to bring new narrative without pat beginnings and endings. Each tray introduces small objects that together create a scenario through proximity sourcing another reality that is not linear, or even causal. They invite the reframing of possibilities through the application of poetic contact.
