About the Item

Martin Coiffier is a multidisciplinary visual artist who lives and works in Brussels. Through his works, he transforms nature and landscapes into poetic visions. For each of his series, he creates unique processes that bring together different techniques. This prompts viewers to question the true nature of the work. His work creates reflections on the relationship between reality and the imaginary; the physical and the psychological; the abstract and the figurative; and finally the relationship one maintains with a work of art. Martin Coiffier's representations of forests are explosions of energy. He photographs the sets himself, which he then reassembles with the computer and paints with acrylic paint. This creates different layers. Throughout the process, he constantly questions where the boundary lies between photography and painting, and how these two media, through their visual aspect, determine our way of interpreting a work. He draws his inspiration from romanticism, 19th century engravings, cinema, and contemporary digital creations. In ''Pink Melody'', Martin Coiffier invites us into a forest steeped in light and transformation. ''Pink Melody'' is suffused with vibrant yellow hues, a colour that simultaneously evokes warmth, energy and a hint of other-worldliness. Trees stand tall yet dissolve in shimmering layers of paint, digital collage and photographic elements, suggesting the boundary between the real and the imagined. For the viewer, the experience is immersive: you feel drawn into the myriad layers of colour and texture, as if walking into the glow of sunset through a dense grove of trees whose trunks pulse with light. The work asks: how do we see nature? What is its reality, and what do we project onto it? In this sense, ''Pink Melody'' is also an exploration of perception. Coiffier reminds us that nature is not simply given, it is filtered through our memory, our imagination, our technology. The digital traces, the painted overlays, the photographic base all combine to suggest that what we call “nature” is also a creation of thought and vision. Ultimately, this piece offers both a moment of visual splendor and a subtle meditation on how we relate to our environment, as viewers, as inhabitants, and as creators of meaning. Even though it is partially photography, every piece is completely unique. Coiffier does not work with editions. Acrylic and pigment print on Hahnemühle Fine art paper on Dibond. Wooden frame. Autumn Announces Itself , Contemporary Dutch Oil Painting of a Landscape
By Frank Dekkers
Located in Utrecht, NL
Frank Dekkers (1961) is a landscape painter par excellence. Full of dedication and diligence he always works on location outdoors, defying the elements. The weather plays an important role in his work: an emerging early winter, heavy summer rain, lightning storms and flaming sunsets form endless sources of inspiration. Like 19th century painters as Monet or Renoir he takes his easel, panel and oil paint outside where Frank finds the peace and quiet to create his paintings. Being outside, experiencing the landscape, the passing of the day, is what makes him paint. Dekkers masters many techniques, such as etching, woodcutting, ink drawing and painting in oil. Whatever the technique he uses, his work is always recognizable by his unique signature. He can accurately depict the essence of the landscape, using minimal resources. By reducing his subjects to lines, surfaces, colors and light, he shows us his interpretation of the landscape without it becoming unrecognizable to those who haven’t been there. On the back of every panel Frank notes down the coordinates, the exact spot Frank painted the landscape. Type the coordinates in Google Maps...
