About the Item
Monica DeSalvo’s “Lucidity” is a 38 x 24 inch unique digital inkjet print of a surreal collage first built on an enlarged abstract monotype and then embellished with mixed media. Yellow arcs cascade into areas of pink, red, and purple. Collage elements, many whimsical, blend into the distorted fields of color, creating depth, texture, and contrast in scale. The original monotype was created using a Gelli plate. Pastel, marker, and colored pencil were added to the top layer of this final iteration on archival watercolor paper. The unframed work has a white border, and the title and signature are written below the image.
Monica DeSalvo is a Boston-based mixed-media artist and designer with a BFA in Visual Design from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Her work has been featured in juried and invitational exhibitions, as well as in several periodicals, and is part of collections in the United States and Europe. DeSalvo is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston.
