About the Item

Monica DeSalvo’s “Thar She Blows” merges two acrylic abstract monoprints into a 20 x 16 inch work with a vertical seam. Crisp masses of yellow and olive green with curvy strands of royal blue and white are printed onto a typewritten report with black text and flecked archival paper. The sea and playful nautical rhetoric from DeSalvo’s late father is reflected in the title. A Gelli plate was used to create the two monoprints. The 16 x 10 inch image is in a 20 x 16 x 0.825 inch black metal frame with a white acid free mat and glass. The signature is on the print. Monica DeSalvo is a Boston-based mixed-media artist and designer with a BFA in Visual Design from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Her work has been featured in juried and invitational exhibitions, as well as in several periodicals, and is part of collections in the United States and Europe. DeSalvo is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston, MA.
