About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “Landlocked (The End of the Line)” is an 14 x 11 inch unique abstract mixed media print represented on Awagami Bamboo Japanese paper utilizing both printmaking and creative photography. The artist’s recent relocation from coastal Massachusetts to the high desert of New Mexico has yielded her new series “Landlocked” where the artist merges images of the Southwest with ocean and coastline pictorials. In “Landlocked (The End of the Line)” the front of a train is double exposed and depicted in both red and blue. The train sits waiting within a screen of green clouds on overgrown tracks at a New Mexico train station. Below the vivid pictorial is an image of a harbor in hues of grey. The water’s moving currents contrast with the stillness of the dry desert terrain in this contemporary abstract landscape. Deconstructed and cropped photographs taken by the artist are printed on and within layers of block printing ink and gouache. DeGrandpre earned her BFA in Visual Design in 1987. Her esthetic and creative approach have a graphic sensibility as the artist creates an interlacing of imagery, form, and colors. This modern dynamic print is signed under the right hand corner of the image and will ship flat in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice.
DeGrandpre has exhibited throughout the United States including three solo exhibitions. deGrandpre’s work has been featured in various periodicals as well as being the recipient of various awards in both Fine Art and Printmaking. She is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Patty deGrandpre
Patty deGrandpre is a New Mexico based artist. She received her BFA in Visual Design at Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1987. Her studio is in her home in Lamy, New Mexico. She has participated in many shows, both juried and invitational, at local, regional and national levels. In addition to three solo exhibitions, she has received accolades and awards over the years in both Fine Art and Printmaking.
