About Artist
Roseleen Labazacchy, a true Nigerian born in the year 2000 and based in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria. Roseleen holds a National Certificate of Education in Fine Art from Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo State.
She is a mixed-media painter. Roseleen was exposed to art from a very young age; Her father, being an artist himself, enrolled her in the popular Nike Art Gallery at a very young age to learn traditional Adire making, a skill she still practices to date.
This was how she started art professionally, and she has been getting better at what she does since then. In the just-concluded international art exhibition and competition organized by Talentia Foundation, Roseleen Labazacchy, who participated in the competition alongside other international artists, came first in the Mixed Media category and was presented with a certificate of achievement in recognition of her artistic endeavor.
Roseleen uses oil and acrylic with fabrics on canvas to consciously project African women's dignity and true African beauty. As an African painter, Roseleen hopes to bring about the emancipation of the true African woman's image by showcasing true African beauty in her paintings for the world to see.
She is inspired by the need to see the dawn of a new and better African society, a society that respects and celebrates the African people, cultures, and ways of life. Roseleen is a full-time artist in the studio of Oluwole Omofemi, a well-known, talented artist who has been a great source of inspiration to her. She is also inspired by other notable African artists like Njideka Akunyili Crosby.

Red, Gray, and White Abstract Figurative Contemporary Painting of a Lady
Located in Houston, TX
Red, gray, and white abstract figurative mixed media painting by Houston, TX artist Jim Pirtle. The work depicts a figure of a lady wearing a red and white blouse with a cowboy hat on her head. She sits against a red background with hats and shoes. Unsigned. Framed in a natural wooden frame.
Dimensions Without Frame: H 23.5 in x W 19.75 in
Artist Biography: Jim Pirtle was born in Houston, TX in 1960. In High School, he was selected "Most Nonconformist." He went to Baylor University in Waco, TX, and received a BA in history but more importantly, was a member of the NoZe Brotherhood. The group was an underground mask-wearing secret society of satirists that through writing, campus interventions, and performance art exposed the hypocrisy of conservative Baptists. After college, he moved to Austin, TX, and got a job as an orderly at the Austin State Hospital. This was a crash course education in the extremes of human behavior. After two years in the locked up insaneness of collecting urine, breaking up fights and mopping up spontaneous miscarriages he jumped to the other extreme, moving back to Houston and becoming a Kindergarten teacher for 10 years ? innocence and hope.
During the mid 80's he was becoming an obsessive painter and found the local art community. He moved into an artist warehouse and got his formal art training from Nestor Topchy...
