About the Item
This rare and beautifully presented portfolio by internationally acclaimed artist Yinka Shonibare was published in 2008 by James Cohan Gallery. The set includes a first-printing, mixed media print, signed and numbered by the artist in an edition of 200, housed in an elegant custom slipcase.
Accompanying the print is a hardcover monograph titled Yinka Shonibare, published by MCA Prestel, featuring rich visual documentation of the artist’s work up to 2008. Authored by Rachel Kent, the book provides deep insight into Shonibare’s conceptual explorations of post-colonial identity, race, and history through textile, sculpture, and installation.
The book is preserved in its original cellophane wrapper, encased in a dedicated protective inner case, and presented within an additional black outer case, embossed with the artist’s name—emphasizing its status as a collector’s edition.

Yinka Shonibare
Yinka Shonibare CBE, RA, is a British-Nigerian artist living in the United Kingdom. His work explores cultural identity, colonialism and post-colonialism within the contemporary context of globalisation. A hallmark of his art is the brightly coloured Ankara fabric he uses. He received the Whitechapel Gallery Art Icon Award in March 2021. He is the 8th recipient of this award, which celebrates artists who have made significant contributions to a particular medium.
