Mixing pop iconography with art historical references, American artist Zach Reini’s work sardonically recontextualizes widely consumed and recycled cultural signifiers that have been displaced from their original meaning over time. Reini cuts away latex and canvas to reveal a visual synecdoche of Micky Mouse, focusing on the darker undertones of commodified desire and nostalgia.
