About the Item
Letter addressed to Mino Maccari. 16 January 1935. 1page, with underlines.
Nice and curious letter in which Benedetti demands a rest from writing and recommended a new associate.
Tired from the troubles of writing "a long story", that he does not want to call a "novel", and with the aim to publish three other stories, he attached to the letter three paragraphs of "notes" with "sentences written for no reason."
"The cold takes from me the desire to work," he writes and insists "if the section "Chronicles and Notes" is not anymore on the agenda, tell me; not to end it, but only to take some time off".
He recommends to Maccari a new associate, Alberto Giovannini, that he defines as a "serious guy, worthy, who has something to say". In fact, in the same year, Giovannini became director of "L'Assalto", the newspaper of the fascist federation of Bologna.
