About the Item
Plaque (bronze 20 x 12 cm, with plexiglass frame 28 x 18 cm) with bas-relief representing a putto with a cornucopia and the crescent moon. At the bottom runs in capital letters a Latin inscription "tibi felicita et abundantia" translatable as "happiness and abundance for you."
Signed at lower right "M/IS/TR/VZ/ZI." Aurelio Mistruzzi was a sculptor and medallist from northern Italy active throughout the peninsula in the twentieth century, much in demand for public monuments, whose fame even reached overseas, to Santo Domingo. Because of the style and handwriting it can be attributed to his production of the 1930s/40s.
this auspicious subject that looks back to ancient Roman tradition became very much in demand, and there are several versions from its manufacture.
