About the Item
My work touches on the importance of home and a sense of security. I believe it is a basic human need to feel like someone is waiting for you. I depict not only my homeland, but also other countries and the lives of other people, so that everyone around the world can find their “safe place”. Thanks to the influence of emigration on my consciousness and life, there is a need to search for new structures and images and introduce them into the usual understanding of the world. Difference of cultures and foundations, attempt
introduction into a new society without losing the feeling of “home” - the main theme that I reveal in my works
Cornflower blue is one of the most enchanting and relaxing colors for the human eye, which is why I often use it in my works.

Havana No 5, Blue - bold, bright, colorful, abstract, modernist, oil on canvas
By David Sorensen
Located in Bloomfield, ON
When David Sorensen visited Havana, Cuba in 1999 he was captivated by the rich textural atmosphere of the city. Using a spatula and paintbrush he created a series of abstract paintings in bright colours and graphic form. No 5 features a sky-blue square in the center, laid over a field of similar shapes in various sizes. Thick lines that run both vertically and horizontally across the canvas add drama. The colour palette—orange, yellow, red, and indigo is both joyful and intense.
“Through the medium of his art, a bridge is built between inner sensation and outer world experience, illusion and reality, what we cannot see and what we see, life and afterlife.” John K. Grande, Montreal poet and writer
Born in Vancouver Sorensen (1937-2011) studied at UBC and the Vancouver School of Art. His teachers were renowned—Arthur Erikson...

"Rodeo Drive" - Playful Prada Painting by Surrealist Georgina Clapham
Located in West Hollywood, CA
This small vertical 15.5 inch high by 11.5 inch wide original oil painting on canvas is wired and ready to hang. This playful image features the Wicked Witch of Oz and the Easter Bunny buying Prada merchandise on the iconic Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. The sides of the artwork are not painted and it does not require framing. It is signed and titled by the artist on the back of the artwork
British painter Georgina Clapham conspicuously engages with story telling and theatricality, drawing together Renaissance portraiture, Greek Mythology, folklore, mysticism, animals, nature, the artificial, high fashion, subculture, gender, identity and sexuality, in her meticulous life size figurative paintings. Through the traditional media of oil paint on linen and intaglio printmaking, she creates her own contemporary mythologies. Staging her paintings using people in her everyday life, she infuses these timeless narratives with the intimacy and tangibility of her friendships and personal relationships drawing out their psychology and sexuality; as such, the works become as much a depiction of her own imagined narrative as of the individuals’ personality.
She has previously attended City and Guilds of London Art School, 2013 and The Glasgow School of Art, 2014-16, where her work was purchased into the archive. In 2015 she was awarded The Richard Ford...
