As the sun sets behind a cluster of trees, it bathes the clouds overhead in magenta and peach tones. An old, deteriorated fence line hints at a once lively, productive pasture. The tall grasses and foliage, painted with loose brushstrokes in a variety of yellow ochres, greens, reds, and oranges, sway with the breeze.

About the Artist
Artist Gail Greene paints tonal landscapes that blend the softness of Tonalism with the expressive energy of Impressionism. “My paintings are never exact replicas of what I see—they’re interpretations shaped by mood, memory, and a sense of place,” says Gail. Drawn to nature’s quieter corners, she gravitates toward rural and ocean scenes that evoke peace and harmony while capturing movement and glowing light. Though she began painting at age eleven, guided by her father’s hobbyist practice, her path included careers in real estate and education before returning to art full-time. Gail works from a naturally lit home studio where she embraces painting as an ongoing process of exploration and growth. When not at the easel, she’s likely tending to her flower garden or running her pet-sitting business with her son.
