About the Item
This finely crafted black-on-buff geometric olla by Juan Quezada Celado features interlocking stepped and square-grid motifs that wrap around the vessel in a precise, rhythmic pattern. The top view reveals a complex radiating motif, demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship for which Quezada is known.
Stone-burnished to a soft sheen, the surface shows excellent clarity between the black pigment and the warm buff clay. The signature is discreetly incised inside the neck ring to preserve the uninterrupted geometric design.
Signed by the artist. Excellent condition with no visible chips or cracks.
The vessel’s balanced proportions, exacting line work, and complete coverage of geometric patterning make this a particularly strong example of Quezada’s mature aesthetic.
