A summer bouquet rests on a marble countertop. Artist Karen d'Angeac Mihm drew inspiration from her flower subscription, whose joyful mix of colors and organic shapes immediately caught her eye. To preserve that fleeting moment, she paired the blooms with the familiar interior of her kitchen, letting the setting quietly frame the arrangement. The result is a warm, intimate scene that celebrates both the beauty of fresh flowers and the comfort of everyday life.

About the Artist
Artist Karen d'Angeac Mihm creates oil paintings that blend memories of her French upbringing with the serene beauty of the Midwest. "During the summer months, I set up outside and paint en plein air, and in winter, I work in my studio from photo references of recent travels that speak to me," says Karen. Born in Nice, France, she moved to the United States as a teenager and later left a career in corporate finance to stay home with her children. This transition led her to pursue art seriously, eventually studying at the Academy of Fine Art in Denmark, Wisconsin. She paints in her home studio, a bright second-floor space with three windows, high ceilings, and a view of the lake. When not painting, Karen enjoys morning exercise and spending time with her husband, two grown children, and their dog.
