About the Item

A wonderful and classic Bauhaus inspired low bowl form created by Marguerite Wildenhain, at Pond Farm, in Guernville, CA. Wildenhain was trained at the German Bauhaus, before moving to the United States with her fellow artist, and husband, Franz Wildenhain. The two opened a school, Pond Farm, north of San Francisco, CA and taught together there for a few years before separating. Marguerite, continued to teach at Pond Farm until 1979. Wildenhain influenced many young artists with her workshops at Pond Farm, through the three books she published, and through a pottery seminar at Black Mountain College, in 1952. This work is a great example of the Wildenhain's Bauhaus esthetic, and is in great condition.
