About the Item
Artist Comments
Inspired by a family trip to the New Jersey shore, artist Onelio Marrero painted two boys braving the powerful incoming waves. He highlights the turbulent movement and scale of the sea compared to the children. Onelio captures the curling forms and glistening water with bold impasto strokes, contrasting the texture of the foam with the reflective water.
About the Artist
Artist Onelio Marrero paints impressionist scenes of everyday life. Whether he captures the romanticism of New York City or the soothing quiet of a rippling pond, he infuses each piece with the visual magic of the moment. He creates a sense of nostalgia and intimacy with his work, offering the feeling that you have visited the same place before. “Each play of light, each texture, and each movement of a figure can have a captivating effect on me,†says Onelio. He studied at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, where he mastered discerning color and values—giving him the tools to create work with superb spontaneous appearance. Onelio’s work is an appreciation for beauty in all its grandest forms; nature, art, and people.
