This painting depicts the Rockaway River in Boonton, New Jersey, on a mid-winter day. It shows several cascades where the river narrows into a gorge along its meandering route through northern New Jersey. Its vigorous brushstrokes and palette knife work accentuate the character of the water as it tumbles down a series of rapids. The varied glazes, and impasto effects, combined with captivating colors, engage the viewer's senses.

About the Artist
Artist Onelio Marrero paints impressionist scenes of everyday life. Whether he captures the romanticism of New York City or the soothing quiet of a rippling pond, he infuses each piece with the visual magic of the moment.
