Low clouds stretch across the evening sky and mirror perfectly on the lake's surface. Shades of purple and blue deepen into gray, signaling the arrival of night. The fading light invites a final moment of stillness before retreating indoors.

About the Artist
Artist Patty Phan captures the beauty of Colorado’s landscapes in her impressionist watercolor paintings. “My art is of places that I love and conjures up specific memories,” says Patty. Her compositions reflect those quiet moments when a strenuous hike, climb, or bike ride pauses, revealing the surrounding beauty. Patty studied art, but as a first-generation Vietnamese-Chinese American, she felt pressured to pursue a stable career, leading her to architecture and technology. In 2020, she picked up a brush again and rediscovered her passion. Now, she paints in a bright corner of her home, accompanied by her two terriers and a playlist that ranges from The Beatles to Beyoncé. When not creating, she enjoys rock climbing, dancing, and spending time with family.
