Call for tenders for the Lotto Game contract in Rome, realized in 1725 ca.
Pope Benedict XIII renewed the ban of Pope Innocent XI against the lottery game, considered immoral, with severe penalties for transgressors; given the limited success of the ban, he added spiritual penalties, such as suspension a divinis for the clergy and excommunication latae sententiae for the others.
Issued in the name of the pope Benedict XIII by Carlo Collicola, General Treasurer of the Apostolic Camera.
