Anne Johnstone’s “Cacaphony of Mostly Yellow”, 20 x 16 inch, is acrylic painted on board. A warm, gestural abstraction dominates the canvas, with broad sandy ochre and beige brushstrokes forming a loose, layered ground punctuated by pale pink and muted olive swaths. Near the center, an energetic hand-painted orange oval rings outward like a casual frame, drawing the eye to a small constellation of darker marks inside: a deep indigo teardrop or petal, a purple triangular block, and a few short black comma-like strokes beneath them.
