Abstract and figurative, "Tuba Patrol" is an oil painting underpinned by a collage of drawings. iIt operates as a dense psychological field where time, memory, and communication collapse into a single red, translucent zone.
The circular form reads as both enclosure and lens, holding diagrams, phones, figures, and scattered notes that suggest attempts at order: hypotheses, measurements, records of contact. These rational systems are repeatedly interrupted by painterly gestures and looping lines that feel bodily and compulsive, undermining the promise of control. The telephones, floating icons, and faint texts evoke failed transmissions and unanswered calls. Built through layers of paint, drawing and abrasion, the surface becomes an archaeological site of thought—where cognition, desire, and repetition are trapped together, suspended between analysis and emotional overflow.

C. Dimitri
C. Dimitri has received fellowships in painting from the Vermont Studio Center and the RI State Council on the Arts. A staff illustrator for The Rumpus, he has illustrated texts and book covers and has added drawings to the Kenyon Review, Bomb Magazine, and the streets of Providence. Two of his climate-change graph paintings are in the permanent collection of the Boston Public Library.
Solo exhibitions include the Tabla Rasa Gallery (Brooklyn), Aurora (Providence), and Crocker Griffin (Narragansett), with select exhibits at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, and Brooklyn's Irondale Theater, Greenpoint, and Groundfloor galleries. He has also shown in Miami, Provincetown, and Los Angeles.
Dimitri received a doctorate in literature from the University of Essex, England. His focus on aesthetic modernism informs his visual work.
