About the Item

Dale Najarian is an internationally recognized artist. She received her BFA from Moore College of Art Design and worked for over fifteen years as a Graphic Designer and Art Director in New York City, Philadelphia and Washington DC. Dale is a painter working in several mediums including mixed media, and oils. She has a passion for photography and documenting her experiences is an important part of her creative process and source of inspiration for much of her work. She shows her work in curated exhibitions, juried shows and in her CT studio. Dale’s Shadow Series merges the realistic quality of a photograph with the abstract translation of a scene, to depict a dreamlike painting that draws you in. She is fascinated by the perspective that shadows create, and uses people’s movements to capture the ever changing relationship between dark and light. Dale is an advocate and philanthropist of the arts. She received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Moore College of Art and Design for her active roll in using art to connect with a larger audience. She currently sits on the Advisory Board for Metro Art Studios and The Norwalk Art Space and is an active artist member of The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County. She recently served on the Executive Board of the Artists Collective of Westport and also #UNLOADusa, a non profit organization using the arts to drive the conversation about gun violence in America. She served on the Executive and General Board for six years at the Museum of Contemporary Art Westport and was an active member of their Visual Arts and Education team while volunteering as a teaching artist at Yale’s Smilow Cancer Center. Dale has a studio in Southern Connecticut and shows her work in curated gallery exhibitions and juried shows.

Artist Comments
An energetic cascade of color in free form by artist Scott Dykema. Part of Scott's series on vibrant abstractions, this piece features bursts of spirited hues with etched and dripping details. Eye-catching metallic features cleverly capture light from different angles.

About the Artist
Scott works out of a 1947 Chevrolet school bus that is parked permanently in his Texas backyard. His highly expressionistic, figurative work is reminiscent of contemporary street art, largely due to the inclusion of spray paint in his arsenal of media. Scott is inspired by images he comes across in books or in daily life. His bold statement pieces demonstrate artful yet fanciful interpretations of world cultures. Each painting, through its dynamic layers of color and metallics, presents a story that awaits the imaginative viewer.
