Darren Goins is a multi-faceted artist working in diverse media. A common element to his work is the sense of of how objects exist in, and move through space. He strives to convey pictorially or through movement art, the actual sense of being, the interconnectedness of space and form, ie: where does any one thing end and another begin? Intense layering techniques are key to his process but his purpose is to articulate each layer's presence while maintaining the sense of the whole. The final works push past 2 dimensional surfaces showcasing the visible layers. As the light hits it differently throughout the course of a day, the surface changes appearance. Layers of textured paint and other media (toner, foam rubber, etc.) are constructed in such a way as to allow you to see into the painting, like a semi-transparent 3-d object particularly when light shines through it. .
