About the Item
Helen in Wedding Gown is a contemporary abstract oil painting by Colonel David Richardson. He draws inspiration from the Iliad for this striking piece, which is part of his Trojan War series. Helen -the most beautiful woman in The Iliad’s world- started the Trojan War when she was taken by Paris, a Trojan Prince, from her husband King Menelaus. A patchwork of green and blue and white stands gorgeous against a black and bright orange background; the piece is just as stunning as Helen of Troy.
Artist Biography:
David Richardson is from Waterford, Michigan. He was taught to draw and paint by his mother, an artist and art teacher. Richardson studied biology and art while attending Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. His primary medium is oil, and he also works in acrylic and metal. Richardson became a Colonel during his time in the US Marine Corps, an experience he draws inspiration from to create his artwork. He also marries images from the epics of Homer into his work, creating truly haunting abstracts.
Colonel David Richardson was born in Michigan and is currently based in Arlington, VA. He was taught to paint by his mother, an artist and teacher, in his youth. Richardson draws inspiration from his experience in the US Marine Corps and Homer's Iliad to create his works. A master of oil painting, Richardson also works in acrylic and metal.
