Artist Dorothy Dunn presents an abstract seascape created in flowing, ethereal hues. "At times it feels as though the sea and sky reflect our own moments of inner storms and tranquility," says Dorothy. "Perhaps this is why we are so strongly affected by the beauty of a storm moving across open waters." The painting's cool color palette interplays in a manner reminiscent of the sea and sky's saturated shades that sometimes appear to become one.

About the Artist
Dorothy learned the joy of putting color to canvas in her grandfather’s art studio at an early age. He encouraged her to explore art using oil pastels alongside his easel while he painted. She soon progressed to her own easel and oil paint, inspiring a love of art she followed through college and into adulthood. Dorothy’s approach to her abstract artwork entails pouring paint in transparent and saturated layers to create sweeping colors across the canvas. Grandfather’s easel still has a place of honor in her art studio, in fact you can see it used to display her paintings on UGallery.
