A layer of emerald green rests atop a base of purple, pale blue, and white, creating a striking contrast of light and dark. Scratches and marks added while the paint was still wet bring texture and invite the viewer to explore the surface. The interplay of colors and subtle details gives the abstract painting a dynamic energy.

About the Artist
Artist Dorothy Gaziano depicts abstract scenes primarily in cool colors, drawing inspiration from the natural world. “I never know how a painting will turn out; I work until the physical piece matches the emotional idea I envisioned,” says Dorothy. Growing up in New England, she moved from the city to the Boston suburbs during her teenage years, where she enjoyed proximity to both beaches and mountains. Beginning her artistic career in folk art, she spent many years with a publishing company that distributed prints of her work. Today, Dorothy splits her time between a studio in Florida and a workspace in South Carolina, where she listens to music while painting. Outside of her creative hobbies, Dorothy enjoys walking, biking, and caring for her air plants.
