This painting is composed primarily of yellow and green hues. Through the interplay of blended gradients and horizontal lines, the abstract composition draws the viewer in with the depth and richness of its colors.
Standing before this work—shaped by influences from Minimalism and Abstract Expressionism—one is first tempted to search for familiar forms, before ultimately surrendering to the journey suggested by the canvas and the energy it emanates.
The piece encourages us to set aside our usual points of reference and allow ourselves to be immersed in the spirituality it conveys. This sense of spirituality may appear at odds with the forceful gestures involved in its creation. As art historian Emmanuel Daydé notes: “In her work, Ferle creates a new space, painting openness and doorways to infinity, towards a kind of spirituality beyond the body itself. She opens a passage to another realm—a fourth dimension.
When contemplating her large colour paintings, one feels close to the black hole, to physics, and to the stars.” Across her range of colours, Ferle establishes a deep, harmonious rhythm that invites quiet contemplation.

Elvire Ferle
For Ferle, painting is a ‘moment’ which alone justifies the motion of the artist, mobilized physically by the composition of her work. Her canvasses entice us to abandon all known references and leave us submerged by the spirituality that they are so full of. Her works, nearing abstract minimalism and often in extremely large formats, are composed of colored geometric patterns. Light and colour are central to her pictorial research and even become the focal point of her work. Throughout her long career, the artist has exhibited in museums and galleries in France, Europe and Japan.
