Statement
I started using thread in my work more than thirty years ago. I liked the practical properties of the material, thread’s use to put things together, to mantle, to unify. Threads also soothed my desire for fluidity: I could manipulate them to create mass, sculptural forms, to penetrate the canvas or just leave them loose.
At the same time thread held a symbolic meaning for me. As a young girl growing up in Greece needle -work was an activity that kept us busy in the late afternoons. That was my first experience with canvas and I was fascinated by the cleanness, vibrancy and variety of the colors of thread.
The act of cutting and sewing patches of fabric reflects my need to put together pieces of three different worlds. Being an Armenian who was born in Greece and immigrated to America, I never had a profound sense of wholeness. I constantly strive to create a balanced and unified space.
In my artwork I incorporate techniques of drawing, painting, sewing and weaving. I aim to create visual parallels between rational and cosmological worlds through constructing and deconstructing, layering and erasing, scraping and marking, unraveling and reconnecting.
Eozen Agopian’s work incorporates drawing, painting, sewing and weaving. She started using thread in her work more than thirty years ago and is attracted to the ways it is used to put things together, the fluidity of the fibers and its ability to penetrate the canvas or to hang loose. Thread also symbolizes the needlework that Agopian made while growing up in Greece. The act of cutting and sewing patches of fabric reflects the artist’s need to put together pieces of three different worlds. Agopian explains: “Being an Armenian who was born in Greece and immigrated to America, I never had a profound sense of wholeness. I constantly strive to create a balanced and unified space.”

About the Artist
Eozen Agopian Born in Athens, Greece, Eozen Agopian earned her BFA from Hunter College, NYC and then her MFA from Pratt Institute in 1993. Of Armenian descent, Agopian’s work has been shown both nationally and internationally across Greece, France, Russia, Italy, Germany, China, and the United States. Among her distinguished solo exhibitions are Overcrossing (2023, High Noon Gallery, NYC) Unfold (2019, Athens), The Fabric of Time (2018, Consulate General of Greece, New York), Persistent Dichotomies (2017, Fox Gallery NYC), Traverse (2015, Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery), and Paintings and Works on Paper (1993, Michael Walls Gallery, New York). In 2019, she was awarded a studio residency on Governors Island and was invited to collaborate with Officinenove in Rome, while also holding a residency at Project Studio PS122 in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
In her string paintings, Agopian weaves together fragments of canvas, fabric, thread, and paint to create textured, dimensional surfaces. These hybrid works defy fixed spatial logic, suggesting both movement and instability while evoking the layered nature of her personal and cultural experience. Her process is improvisational—part painting, part weaving, part personal archaeology—building and unbuilding layers and narratives in flux. As she has said of her own work, "I know it’s finished when I feel that it exists somewhere in the Universe."

Forgot 7
By Frank Arnold
Located in Fresno, CA
"Forgot 7" Oil on Canvas features an abstract form surrounded by characters and a surreal landscape. The canvas is painted with shades of green, blue, yellow, and white.
Frank Arnold is viewed as one of the foremost abstract figurative painters and sculptors of our time. He is a living master guided by a personal mission to “turn on a light in the human soul,” through his passionate creation of “Messengers” from his deeper mind connection with Carl Jung's archetypal images, the collective unconscious, and Jungian Synchronicity. These unconscious forms from his deeper mind resonate as personal messages of universal acceptance, reaching out to the viewer.
Arnold has been honored as IAD Artist of the year 2018 by International Artist Day, and 2013 FAC Horizon Artist Award. He has exhibited his artwork in numerous galleries and museums and is in collections worldwide. Arnold divides his working days between oil painting in San Jose del Cabo, Baja Sur...
