Superb original British abstract oil painting, from the 1980's period.
The painting is by the hitherto undiscovered abstract painter Isaiah Gerard Calleja (1936-2016), who was based in the South West of England. We have handled a number of his paintings - all of which came from the artists estate.
The artists work was not prolifically exhibited - and as such not seen on the open market properly until now.
One can see influences of other period expressionist and abstract painters in his work - thickly applied impasto oil, amazingly bright swathes of colour intermingled with shapes and patterns. It makes an instant impact and looks most impressive.
Presented in its original wooden surround frame, the painting is in good condition.

Isaiah Gerard Calleja
Isaiah Gerard Calleja (1936–2016) was based in the South West of England. The artist’s work was not prolifically exhibited, and as such, it was rarely seen on the open market properly. One can see influences of other period Expressionists and abstract painters in his work, yet they retain complete individuality. Thickly applied impasto oil, amazingly bright swathes of color intermingled with shapes and patterns all make an instant impact and look most impressive.
