A native of Marietta, Georgia, Juanita Bellavance is an American contemporary impressionist landscape painter. Her work delves into the scene with a search for beauty in the often unnoticed spaces, especially around water. She loosens up the forms into something between the familiar and the uncertain. Ultimately, Juanita's goal is to have you experience a moment of pause, the awe and wonder we experience in nature, music and special life moments. Those moments we want to linger in the mind. Having formerly been a music educator of elementary-age children, Bellavance relates her art-making process to the process of writing music. Tone on tone, creating harmony. Mark upon mark, creating a rhythmic pattern. Shape upon shape, creating melodic contours. She considers her work to be a song telling a story and creating a relationship between the canvas and her inner spirit. Her results often exude a mysterious quality of soul and spirit creating a moment of pause and meditative ponder. In the late evenings, Juanita can be found in her studio painting in the quiet hours when all the day's busyness has ended and thoughts rise. It is a special and cherished reprieve from the day's activity.
