Crystal Blue Persuasion - Original Oil Painting on Canvas with Quartz and Shell
Multicolored, iridescent abstract composition by Judith W Winslow (JW) (American, 1943-2023), circa 1990. This piece is textured and layered, with multiple colors blending into each other. The primary palate is light blue, pink and beige with thin metallic gold flourishes. The use of quartz crystals and shells make this piece special and truly unique. Depending on the angle, this piece can change colors and reflect light in different ways. There are a few piece of shell affixed to the piece with one that has the word "LOVE" is written in cursive.
Unsigned; part of a collection of her work. A copy of one of the artist's books (Fiction) will be included with the sale.
JW Winslow (American, 20th C) was a writer, poet, TV producer, and television show personality. Winslow was a fascinating artist from Big Sur California. She came to the Monterey peninsula in the 1990s on a business trip. A chance decision to walk on the beach near Fisherman's wharf cut the mold for J W right then and there. She moved to Monterey and at first lived in Pacific Grove. Later she moved to Carmel Woods in a small artists cottage. Over the years she developed and style and method, including using recycled materials, and created her own style. Many locals came to her studio to purchase her works. She took work at a local Cannery row architectural firm to pay the bills. Later she found her home to be Big Sur, her spiritual and artistic base of operations. As a successful radio personality, she was asked to create a TV show on art and artists. She had numerous shows on local and Community television.
