Green, Purple, and Silver - Metallic Abstract Painting on Paper
Subtle, iridescent abstract composition by Judith W Winslow (JW) (American, 1943-2023). This piece is composed of light and airy layers which blend together while maintaining a sense of glowing light and atmosphere. The primary tones are green and cyan but the composition is also laced with subtle purples, creating depth. The brushstrokes are feathery and laced with a metallic sheen which shines in direct light. First image shows the piece with indirect light, while the second image shows the shimmer present in direct light.

Signed "J.W. Winslow 99" in bottom right corner. Sticker from the artists gallery is affixed to the back.
JW Winslow (American, 20th C) was a writer, poet, TV producer, and television show personality. Winslow was a fascinating artist from Big Sur California. She came to the Monterey peninsula in the 1990s on a business trip. A chance decision to walk on the beach near Fisherman's wharf cut the mold for J W right then and there. She moved to Monterey and at first living in Pacific Grove. Later she moved to Carmel Woods in a small artists cottage. Over the years she developed a style and method, including using recycled materials, and created her own style. Many locals came to her studio to purchase her works. She took work at a local Cannery row architectural firm to pay the bills. Later she found her home to be Big Sur, her spiritual and artistic base of operations. As a successful radio personality, she was asked to create a TV show on art and artists. She had numerous shows on local and Community television.
