Solstice, Original Contemporary Blue and Gold Abstract Winter Landscape Painting on Canvas

This moody square format landscape painting by artist Julia Di Sano features a snow laden landscape under an ominous sky. The deep blue utilized by Di Sano is almost black, referencing the short and dark days of the winter season, while the white of the foreground and gold tones peaking through are reminiscent of the glistening ice crystals that dance upon the ground and trees.
Artist Commentary:
SOLSTICE, Abstract Moody Winter Landscape Storm Clouds Snow Painting MEDIUM: Acrylic Mixed Media on Gallery Stretched Canvas DIMENSIONS: 20” x 20” This contemporary rural landscape painting captures a semi-abstracted snowy scene, with dark, impending storm clouds above and shadowy trees in the distance on the horizon, while the minimalist foreground is blanketed in soft blueish white. It's organic and full of movement, with a refined palette of blue, black and white tones contrasting against the metallic gold beneath. As an artist, I am inspired by the weather and Nature, and how those elements interact with one another, changing our landscapes throughout the year. This piece is finished with layers of gloss varnish for UV protection, painted on the sides in a coordinating cream-white tone. Signed, titled, and dated on the back. Gallery stretched canvas, 1.5 inch depth. Wired and ready to hang.
About the Artist:
Julia Di Sano is a full-time watercolour/acrylic painter, based in New Westminster, BC, whose fine art prints and products have been featured worldwide, by places such as HGTV Canada, Etsy Canada, Global TV Breakfast Show, CTV Morning Show Calgary, Apartment Therapy, Grand Designs Magazine UK, Western Living Magazine, etc. Julia's art has also been used by the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC., as well as charitable organizations, such as the Alzheimer's Society of British Columbia. Moreover, Julia's work can be found in dozens of major hotels (including Hilton, Marriott, Westin, Loews, Hyatt, and IHG Staybridge Suites), public and private collections, restaurants, commercial and residential buildings, etc throughout North America and beyond. Julia works from her home studio and lives with her husband and 2 cats. She currently offers her artwork under her own name for her fine art collection and is the Owner/ Artist of a whimsical art décor brand called Ebi Emporium. Born and raised in Brampton, and Orangeville, Ontario, Julia was always inspired by Nature, from the lush woodlands and untouched lakes near her family’s home, to the vast expanse of the Great Lakes and “Cottage Country,” where her family spent a lot of time outdoors throughout her childhood. From a young age, Julia turned to art as her natural expression and outlet. She attended an intensive fine arts high school and has traveled the world, living in numerous places, from New Brunswick to Japan, learning new techniques throughout her travels. Now based in BC, Julia finds endless inspiration from the age-old forests, the mountains, and the rolling waves of the ocean; and her aim is to interpret and capture that rugged beauty through varied paint and textural mediums. Julia’s work is often described as layered, elegant, richly colored, atmospheric, contemporary, and visually textured. She believes art has the power to bring happiness and a calming reprieve to her clients’ lives. Despite hectic, sometimes stressful daily schedules, getting lost within a piece of art can allow one to pause, take a breath from it all, and simply embrace the beauty in this world.
