This is an abstract oil and resin painting in which the artist has created a geometric pattern of colored stripes
In these celestial scenes, light is in constant struggle with the clouds for room in the sky. The red and yellow light beams explode through the grey amorphous masses, leaving a full spectrum of color in their wake. As the light vanquishes the dark, a feeling of optimism swells inside each of San Román’s paintings.
Artist Statement: Here, I am focused on Light, trying to go to the essence of it, in this case my interpretation of the physical light spectrum. Inspired by the California Light
Space Movement, this project represents a positive work, whose intent is to convey a new direction of hope, the INFINITE HOPE… away from fatigue. Thus, by using two languages, which is part of who I am, I try to develop an infinite order out of either expressionistic or atmospheric chaos. This bilingual work is formally expressed by the integration of geometric abstraction with naturalistic light episodes reflected in clouds. In the midst of a void cleanliness, I am creating a space, in which to give dignity to my own dream, mankind’s dream to find a DIGNITY that might include all living things.”

Julia San Román is a California artist born in Madrid, Spain. Although she concentrated her formal education on science, choosing to move to the United States to further her career and earning a Ph.D in Biology, the influence of her childhood exposure to art remained an integral part of her passion for life and, after receiving training in Studio Arts and Art History at the college level, she has committed her life to painting. San Román has had solo exhibitions at the Oceanside Museum of Art, Oceanside, CA; W.D.
