About the Item
"Kinetic Awakening" by Artist: Katarina Joys
Medium: Acrylic on Cotton Canvas
Dimensions: 110x180cm
Certificate of Authenticity
Curatorial Statement:
"Kinetic Awakening stands as a definitive example of Joys’ mastery over atmospheric abstraction. Drawing from her background in Algebra and Geometry, the composition is not merely a collection of gestures but a calculated "coexistence of rhythms." The work captures the precise moment where logical structure yields to the spontaneity of the natural world—a recurring theme born from the artist’s three-year sailing expedition across the Americas. The canvas is anchored by a sophisticated foundation of warm sand, muted ivory, and mineral greys, providing an expansive, meditative field. Emerging from this tranquility is the "kinetic core": a high-velocity arrangement of deep ochre, cobalt, and verdant green. These marks are applied with a textured, gestural urgency that suggests the wild rhythms of the sea and wind, yet they remain tethered to an underlying geometric harmony that prevents the chaos from overwhelming the senses.

Design Significance.
Architectural Presence:
Spanning two meters, this piece possesses the "museum-scale" impact necessary to define large-scale architectural environments, such as a minimalist penthouse or a curated gallery wall.
The Intersection of Logic
Nature:
Collectors are often drawn to Joys’ unique philosophy—searching for mathematical perfection within the "illogic" of the natural world. This intellectual depth adds a layer of narrative value beyond pure visual appeal.
Tactile Sophistication: The visible impasto and layered transitions interact dynamically with high-end interior lighting systems, revealing different topographical details throughout the day.
Market Exclusivity: As a hallmark of Joys’ practice, this work exemplifies her niche at the intersection of fine art and site-specific architectural design, making it a highly sought-after focal point for designers looking to bridge the gap between organic and industrial aesthetics.
"In 'Kinetic Awakening,' Joys provides a window into a new dimension—one where the rigidity of numbers meets the boundless joy of light and motion."
It is a powerful contemporary abstract painting defined by dynamic motion, bold colour accents, and refined compositional balance—perfect for collectors seeking a distinctive, investment-worthy piece.”
Original contemporary abstract painting for sale—large canvas artwork featuring expressive brushstrokes in burgundy, blue, green, and red on a neutral beige and grey background. This modern abstract expressionist piece highlights dynamic movement, layered texture, and high-contrast color fields. Perfect for luxury home décor, contemporary interior design, upscale office spaces, and serious art collectors seeking unique investment-worthy abstract art available to buy online.
“Kinetic Awakening” captures the sensation of motion at the edge of perception. Sweeping, gestural strokes in deep burgundy, ultramarine, emerald, and scarlet surge upward from a subtly toned backdrop of blush and soft grey. These vibrant marks appear to vibrate, scatter, and converge—giving the composition a sense of dynamic lift, as though the forms have just broken into flight.
The interplay of deliberate color accents against the serene neutral field creates a powerful visual tension: energetic yet harmonious, spontaneous yet intentional. The work evokes themes of emergence, evolution, transformation, and the charged moment between chaos and order.
This piece is ideal for collectors who appreciate contemporary abstraction with a bold but refined voice—art that commands space in a luxury interior, private collection, or curated corporate environment. The painting’s balance of elegance and energy makes it a compelling statement piece in modern architectural spaces.

Artist Biography:
Katarina is a contemporary artist whose work resides at the intersection of fine art and high-end architectural design. Based on a philosophy of "living art," she has become the preferred choice for leading real estate designers seeking to anchor their most prestigious interiors in London, Dubai, and the United States.
Her practice is defined by its bespoke nature. Rather than producing for the traditional gallery circuit, Katarina works almost exclusively on a commission basis, creating site-specific collections that respond to the light, scale, and atmosphere of world-class properties. This collaborative approach ensures that each piece is not merely a decoration but a fundamental component of the home’s identity.
Known for her mastery of texture and depth, Katarina’s aesthetic is both emotive and disciplined. Her refusal to engage in mass public exhibitions has created a closed-market ecosystem, making her paintings a hallmark of discretion and taste. To own a piece by Katarina is to possess a work that was likely never intended for the public eye, but rather born from a private dialogue between the artist and the world’s most refined living spaces.
Katarina's works are in private collections in Luxembourg, Copenhagen, Palm Springs; Australia and Germany.
Katarina Joys studied Algebra and Geometry in Munich, after which she spent 3 years sailing to remote islands in South America and North America, searching for new geometric shapes in cold and hot climates, in search of mathematical perfection through the spontaneity of the natural world. A coexistence of rhythms are numbers, logic and illogical are what moves her painting.

Katarina Joys: Where Mathematical Precision Meets the Pulse of Nature
In the world of contemporary fine art, few creators bridge the gap between rigorous logic and organic soul as masterfully as Katarina Joys (b. 1952). Based in the heart of London, Katarina has spent decades developing a visual language that doesn’t just decorate a space—it defines it.
The Foundation of Form
Katarina’s work is born from the elegant world of Algebra and Geometry, which she studied extensively in Munich. This academic rigor provides the "hidden numbers" and underlying logic that move her brush. However, her art found its spirit far from the classroom. Following her studies, Katarina spent three years sailing to the remote islands of North and South America. In the contrast between frozen northern horizons and lush tropical heat, she sought a reconciliation between mathematical structure and the untamed spontaneity of the natural world.
The "Living Art" Philosophy
Katarina operates outside the traditional gallery circuit, preferring a "closed-market ecosystem" that prioritizes exclusivity and personal connection. Her practice sits at the prestigious intersection of fine art and high-end architectural design. From London to Dubai and across the United States, her work is sought after by private collectors and real estate designers who view art as a fundamental component of a property’s identity.
The Portfolio: A Study in Scale and Rhythm
Her portfolio is a testament to the "Kinetic Awakening"—the moment a static canvas begins to breathe:
Large-Scale Masterpieces: XXL oil and acrylic works such as Sunrise on the Beach in Italy, Honey Flowers, and the rhythmic Flamenco are designed to anchor grand architectural spaces.
Geometric Nature: Explorations into the Coexistence of Rhythms, where mathematical precision meets the fluid transformation of natural phenomena.
Bespoke Commissions: A collaborative journey between artist and collector, ensuring every stroke of the palette knife resonates with the specific energy of its final environment.
An Exclusive Dialogue
To own a piece by Katarina Joys is to invest in a philosophy of emergence and transformation. Utilizing a mastery of texture and depth through layered acrylics and oils, Katarina ensures that each piece remains an original dialogue. These are not mass-produced decorations; they are site-specific legacies.
"My work is about the search for new forms—the point where the logic of geometry meets the heartbeat of the earth." — Katarina Joys

Florus, Bold Abstract Painting, Vibrant Contemporary Artwork, Expressionist Art
By Catherine Pennington-Meyer
Located in Deddington, GB
Florus is an original abstract painting by Catherine Pennington-Meyer. The title of this piece means ‘bright’ or ‘rich’ in Latin. A vibrant expressionist abstract full of energy. It will bring a splash of positivity and colour to any scheme.
Discover more of Catherine Pennington-Meyer's original artwork with Wychwood Art online and in our Oxfordshire gallery. Catherine is an award-winning artist who currently lives and works near Munich, in Germany. Her work concentrates primarily on abstract expressionism. Catherine has participated in exhibitions throughout Europe and has quickly established a prestigious international collector base. Catherine says of her art: `I see my painting as a kind of language, translating what I feel or experience to those viewing it. I am innately drawn to create raw, emotive, expressionist pieces, mostly abstracts, which distil a subject down to its feeling. I don`t only want my art to be `beautiful` but for it to reach out and touch the person who is viewing it on an immediate, intuitive level. I want my paintings to speak to their audience in their own visceral language. I am influenced by nature, particularly the multifaceted nature of water, and memories of growing up in particularly beautiful landscapes in North Yorkshire and Scotland. I also find human psychology and science fascinating. But I see compositions everywhere, whether it be flowers in a park, the way smoke curls, books on a library shelf or a street market. Everything is made up of shapes and colours. The world is a constant source influences and inspiration.’ Over time, as her work has developed, she has been increasingly compelled towards abstraction, through which she feels able to communicate an energy which is untethered by the constraints of realism. She enjoys playing with light, depth and movement in her art to give it immediacy and to draw a viewer into the composition. Catherine also enjoys poetry, and her works occasionally have accompanying narratives. Catherine views visual and written art...
