This square acrylic painting by artist KR Moehr features a limited color palette of blue and white. The work, though abstract, almost alludes to a coastal landscape or seascape with a rich, deep blue water meeting a foggy white sky at the horizon line. The paint is applied gesturally, leaving evident paint strokes and moments of thick impasto which break up the composition to create a dynamic and energetic, yet simple and minimalist work.
Artist Commentary:
Abstractly is a modern abstract created with acrylics on stretched canvas. Sides are finished/ready to hang or frame. 12" x 12", signed, COA included. Colors are deep blue/deep teal, bright blue/turquoise, vivid white and some soft bronze coming from under the blue. The bronze from underneath creates a soft metallic transparency seen in the light. Impasto texture on surface.
About the Artist:
KR Moehr, Tucson, AZ Artist. Originally from Michigan, I spent many happy hours roaming through the Detroit Institute of Art (DIA) and marveling at masterpieces and developing a true love for art. I eventually earned a B.A. in Communications and worked in marketing/communications for automotive suppliers in suburban Detroit. Eventually, I moved west to rainy/quirky Portland, OR and lived there for several years during which I first picked up a paintbrush to record a particularly lovely watercolor sunset. It was awful; I was hooked. My life journey took me to my current home in sunny Arizona where I love to try to capture some of the natural desert beauty and amazing sky shows we get. After working to learn and hone my artistic skills, I now paint mostly in the abstract expressionist style and enjoy working with textured art. My media of choice is acrylics or water-based oils.
