About the Item
This painting is from my series titled "The Untethered Soul." This series delves into the transformative power of nature, capturing the essence of what one feels rather than sees. Inspired by the Eastern philosophy of forest bathing, these paintings evoke a sense of peace and acceptance found in natural environments. Each artwork invites viewers to experience the calming energy of the outdoors, where the interplay of light, color, and texture reflects an inner serenity. The series encourages a deep, emotional connection with nature, offering a visual journey into tranquillity and understanding.
An exploration of beauty and energy, Tabing’s paintings are a visual representation of the dichotomy between reality and his simplified interpretation of that indescribable noun reality. Concealing as much as they reveal, Lloyds paintings intertwine gestural marks, textures and fields of color that lure you in, tempting one to get lost in thought and emotion. His reactionary process combined with his use of deliberate, bold brushstrokes create both an uncomplicated and powerful painting. Extreme emotion, simplicity and controlled chaos is a common thread that can be found throughout Lloyd’s works. A self- proclaimed perfectionist, Lloyd says that being self-taught has allowed for his uninhibited and pure style of painting. Lloyd leaves his heart and soul on every painting. This relatively reserved painter enjoys speaking with people about his art but would rather allow the paintings to speak for themselves, reveling feelings and emotions that he says he could never put into words.

A bold mid-century abstract expressionist piece exploding with heavy texture and vivid color by San Francisco artist Peter Witwer (American, 1928-1968). Darker colors are layered atop each other, building up from white, yellow, and red through greens and blues into dark purple and black. The composition is surrounded by an orange field, creating a strong contrast.
Unsigned, but was acquired with a collection of Witwer pieces.
Displayed in a vintage wood frame.

Provenance: Without a will and a family that had little interest in his art, nearly all of his possessions and close to 100 paintings were turned over to SF’s Conservators Office. His friend, Albert Richard Lasker, purchased all of Peter’s possessions (including the art) and has taken care of them until this day, always sensing there was something remarkable about the collection. Wanting Peter’s work to finally be seen, Richard came to Lost Art Salon with Peter’s story after reading about the new gallery in a July, 2005 issue of the SF Chronicle.
