About the Item

A more literal reference to window constructions is in the recent work of Luc Hoekx. Transparent panels made of plexiglass are painted on both sides with colored surfaces. Front and back are visible at the same time, but also overlap in different places and in this way create obstructions in our way of looking. The transparency of Plexiglas often disappears to make way for the transparency of paint layers. Front and back are concepts that can be exchanged. They are equally important for the final image. Some color areas are very tightly painted, while with other surfaces a clear brushwork remains visible. A layered story unfolds for the viewer that can never be completely transparent. It is a story full of overlaps and poetic nuances, the story of a visual language that can only be visually dissected.
