The painting measures 77 x 39 cm and is an old linen sack filled with polyurethane foam. The pigments include beeswax, oxide vinegar, yellow turmeric, and natural graphite.
The work is part of the exhibition "The Future Will Be Prehistoric" at the Manolo Eirin Gallery in A Coruña, Spain.
In the pieces of Manolo Eirin (1967, Finisterre), the memory of materials takes center stage. He uses sheets, sacks, linen, fabrics steeped in biography, which he infuses with graphite powder, natural dyes, beeswax, and oxide vinegar. He then fills them with polystyrene foam, generating volumes that hang like dead weights or body reliquaries. Manolo explores the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and found objects. His works resonate with the practices of Antoni Tàpies in his use of poor materials, and with the work of Doris Salcedo in terms of the symbolic charge of the object as a body and container of memory. His pieces are suspended presences that condense time, fragility, and resistance.
