The inspiration for this body of work is the Cycle of Life, explored in an abstract manner but referencing the organic world of gestation, growth, flowering, seeding and regeneration mixed media painting on canvas. includes acrylic paint, drawing and collage.
About the Artist:
My work explores images of the natural world through layers of colour, shape, line and texture. Interwoven are elements of pattern. I like to think of my work as containing images and fragments of images that arrest the viewers attention and challenge their perceptions.
During lockdown the ever present consistent theme of the CYCLE OF LIFE has become more pronounced. Referencing the magnitude of the natural world has become a metaphor for the life cycle : from germination, sprouting, growing, budding, flowering, fading, drooping, dying, drying, merging and then re-emerging.
Although the work is abstract, recognisable shapes and forms appear in abstract spaces. I work in mixed media using drawing, water colour, acrylics, and collage, either on paper or canvas.
