Michel Colin, born in 1934, lives and works in France. He trained in plastic and decorative arts in Strasbourg, where he studied from 1957 to 1962. He mainly uses oil on linen, pastel on paper and ink on paper. His style lies at the crossroads of impressionist painting and expressionist drawings, influenced by artists such as Cremonini and Vieira da Silva.
Michel Colin has always found his inspiration in nature. He was deeply imbued with the atmosphere of the places he visited and drew, filling hundreds of sketchbooks. Whether familiar landscapes like Lorraine, Alsace, Provence or Brittany, or more distant horizons like the American West, New York, Morocco or Asia, each of his trips has enriched his palette and his artistic expression.
His passion for painting is particularly expressed through Indian ink drawings, but he has also explored oil, acrylic, pastel and charcoal. Michel Colin has exhibited in numerous galleries in France and abroad. Some of his most important exhibitions took place at the Charles de Bruyères museum in Remiremont, at the Conseil général des Vosges in Épinal, and at the Plombières museum.
Several books have been published on his work, including "Michel Colin" by Martine Henry, "Les Vosges bushnières by Michel Colin" and "The forty years of painting by Michel Colin". Numerous press articles and interviews on radio and television in Alsace and Lorraine have also made it possible to disseminate his work.
From 1968 to 2023, Michel Colin participated in numerous exhibitions in prestigious galleries such as the Galerie Colette Dubois, the Galerie Art Expo, and the Galerie Médicis in Paris; the Aktuaryus Gallery and the AIDA Gallery in Strasbourg; the Alfa Gallery and the Estuaire Gallery in Le Havre; and the Galerie La Palette in Lorient, among many others in France and abroad, notably in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and the United States.
