Monroe Hodder Biography Monroe is a seasoned abstract painter whose layered works juxtapose geometric forms with expressionist fields of color. She had a solo exhibition in 2021 of new work at the David Richard Gallery in New York City. • Received an MFA in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute, 1983. • Works in various paint mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, printmaking and pastel. • Her current Gallery representation: Tabla Rasa Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, David Richard Gallery in New York City Belgravia Gallery in England William Havu Galley in Denver, CO, Butters Gallery in Portland, OR Oehme Print Center in CO. • More than 100 of her paintings are in corporate and private collections, including Tom Cruise, Isabel Sawhill, Bank of America, Panzio Art Center, Denver, CO, Gulfco, Denver, CO, and Brown and Tedstrom, Denver, CO • Over 50 reviews have been written about her work. • • Her paintings are in eight museum collections, including the Denver Museum of Art, the Kirkland Museum, the Portland Art Museum and the San Jose Museum of Art • Work in various art books and magazines including Colorado Abstract, curated and written by Michael Paglia and Mary Voelz Chandler. • Residencies: American Academy in Rome on five occasions; Baer Art Center, Iceland; Nantucket Art Center; other residencies. • Awarded UK Artist Resident Visa, followed by UK citizenship in 2005. • Numerous international exhibitions and Art Fairs, including Italy, Korea, France, Kazakhstan, UK Art Fairs, Miami Basel. • Was on the art faculty of several colleges and universities in the Bay Area Art critic for several West Coast publications.
