Artist Commentary: Scientists like my work. They often make comments about looking at specimens in a petri dish, or at rocks or natural materials under a microscope. The two "Connected Conversations" panels (numbers 1 and 2) are painted in mixed media on alupanel, and aluminum sheet material. They are braced on the back for hanging and support and look like they are floating on the wall. Hughes studied Studio Art and English at Fordham University in New York and received an MFA in Painting from the University of Chicago.
