About the Item

"Minoan" Abstract Painting, Textural Oil on Canvas, Signed, 1991 Beautiful textural abstract by Sasha Rogers (Canadian, 20th/21st Century). Signed "Sasha S. Rogers '91", titled "Minoan" on verso. Two identifying labels on verso. Displayed in a slat wood frame. Image, 23"H x 22"L. Sasha Rogers has been a professional painter for over 20 years. Although she has not lived in the prairies since the beginning of her career, she has not lost the influence of the vast expanses and endless horizon lines experienced from the landscape of her up bringing. Rogers sees her artwork as a continual exploration and dialogue with physical and visual concepts of space. For her it is important to create an entrance and exit, or in other words, a “portal” for the viewer to move into the depth of her horizon line where the separation of the bottom and top color fields of her paintings exists. Her work suggests balance between different states, whether it is a reference to atmospheric conditions or the movement of water, a philosophical questioning of states of existence, or through an aesthetic rendering of color field imaging. Sasha Rogers received her Masters of Painting in 1987 and was a painting instructor for twelve years. She has been primarily focused on solo exhibits and international art fairs and is in numerous private collections in the Canada, the USA and Europe.

"Ab-scrap" - Abstract Geometric Composition in Acrylic on Wood Panel
Located in Soquel, CA
"Ab-scrap" - Abstract Geometric Composition in Acrylic on Wood Panel Dynamic abstract composition by Sam Dantone (American, b. 1971). This piece was created as a part of the "Ab-scrap" series, where Dantone uses excess paint from his sign painting business to create new compositions. Whenever there is a little extra paint on a brush, Dantone would add it to a panel, slowly creating a new composition out of the leftovers from his other work. Thus, each piece contains a wide variety of colors and brushstrokes, and the echoes of other compositions. Signed "Sam Dantone" on verso. No frame. Board size: 20.75"H x 8.75"W Sam Dantone (American, b. 1971) is an artist from Oregon who works as a sign painter, designer, and sculptor. Artist’s Statement: “Not once in my life do I know a time when I have not been an artist. My father tells that I once copied the Kleenex logo from the side of the box, at age three. I tribute my abilities to naïve confidence and other’s positive attention. As a kid, drawing was magical . . . Though my art stylings vary widely, one thread stitches all of my work together, (my art) is my critique on man’s apparent love for life and his constant destruction of it.” Exhibitions: 2015 - FoundSpace, Jackson, WY 2013 - Pacific Park Gallery, Coos Bay...

Abstract #18 , by Anthony Dyke, Oil Painting on Panel
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
This 11" x 14" oil on canvas painting is by Boston-based artist, Anthony Dyke. The painting is an example of geometric abstraction, composed through an arrangement of rectilinear forms, each rendered in bold, saturated color. Dominating the left side is a deep green vertical rectangle and adjacent to it is a narrow red vertical stripe, generating a visual dialogue between the broader green plane and the surrounding forms. A field of light blue occupies the top portion above. mid-composition, a horizontal mint green band stretches across the surface, and on top rests a tilted rectangular form shifting from white to warm red in a subtle gradient. To the far right, a tall blue vertical bar intersects with a fine yellow line. The base of the painting features a complex layering of darker hues: a black horizontal stripe, accompanied by stacked rectangles in red, purple, and yellow. Anthony Dyke was born in Norwich, Vermont and attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University earning a BFA and MFA in painting. As an artist and arts educator, he relocated from New York City to his downtown Oklahoma City studio, working there for two decades before returning to Boston in 2020. Coming from Vermont where the seasons are distinctly different from one another, his shift from a pastoral setting to an urban environment set up a dichotomy in the work, both visual and emotional. Tony has an extensive education in painting, photography, graphic design and figure sculpture. These mediums intersect in his work through many years of creating artworks and currently speak to his interest in abstract painting. During his senior year in the BFA Program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, my large painting “Natole” was chosen by Frank Stella (the juror) into the highly competitive and prestigious Dana Pond...
